  • Evidence Based Interventions (EBIs)

    Below is a list of commissioning policies that outline planned care treatments that the ICB will not fund (or not routinely fund) or where funding will be restricted unless certain clinical criteria are met (criteria-based access).
    If the practice refers a patient for any of these interventions, we will have that referral returned to us. 
    The ICB state:
     “We accept that there may be cases where an intervention would be appropriate, but these should be minimal…..If you have a patient who you believe does meet the criteria for being referred, then you are required to complete a prior approval application……Prior approval applications will be assessed by a prior approval panel consisting of a programme of care clinical lead or deputy chief medical officer and a RMS GP sifter, supported by an admin support officer.  The panel will meet twice a week to ensure that any delays to the 18-week referral to treatment pathway are kept to a minimum”.
